Disability Network of Mid-Michigan is a consumer-run grassroots disability organization. We are designated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit and are a federally-funded Center for Independent Living. We provide an array of services to people of all ages, with many types of disabilities. Our services include Information & Referral, Peer Mentoring, Advocacy, Nursing Home Transitions, Independent Living Supports, Veterans Services, Business Services and the STAGES youth program. We reach over 26,000 people each year either through direct services or community education. In 2010, we provided services to 1,200 people with disabilities. And while we are proud of these numbers, we determine our impact not only by the quality of service we provide, but also by the quality of life of individuals we support. We are working to change societal attitudes about people with disabilities; to provide an environment where everyone, regardless of ability, can experience and contribute based on their interests, skills and desires.
