 | Saginaw Promise will host its annual “Power of a Promise” Fundraiser at the “new” Saginaw United High School and will highlight Saginaw Promise outcomes and scholar attainment numbers! The “Power of a Promise” Fundraiser event will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. The event will feature building tours (before and after the program), Buffet dinner overlooking the Saginaw River (catered by Horizons), Auction, Program Highlights, Entertainment and a Keynote Speaker with Saginaw roots; Dr. Phillip Bowman, Emeritus Professor, University of Michigan. Doors open at 4:45 PM for tours, with program starting at 6 PM.
The Saginaw Promise welcomes Saginaw native, Dr. Phillip J. Bowman. Dr. Bowman serves as this year’s “keynote speaker”. Dr. Bowman is a product of the Saginaw Public School District and a proud 1966 graduate of Saginaw High School! Dr. Bowman has had a distinguished career as a nationally and internationally recognized scholar, leader, and trailblazer for social justice. Dr. Bowman is Professor Emeritus at the University of Michigan where he was Founding Director of the National Center for Institutional Diversity and has held faculty positions in Social Psychology, Higher Education, and African American and African Studies. He will have much to say about the importance and impact of education.

Since 2012, the Saginaw Promise has awarded $1,317,714 in scholarships to 728 scholars. The “Power of a Promise” fundraiser is held annually to raise program awareness and scholarship funding.
