Event Description:

A handbell festival for tri-county area churches with handbell choirs directed by the world-renowned Catherine McMichael will take place all day Saturday, September 23, 2017 beginning with registration at 8:00 AM. Workshops geared toward Level 2 and Level 3 handbell ringers will be featured as well as a catered luncheon by Memory Lane Café. Larry and Carla Sue from Holland, MI, Kim Finison from Lansing, MI, and Dr. Quincy Dobbs, Minister of Music at First Congregational Church will lead workshop sessions throughout the day. Two original compositions for bells written by Catherine will make their debut. Required pre-registration cost is $40 per person. Below is the schedule:

  Welcome and Handbell Duet by Larry and Carla Sue
9:15 – 10:30 AM   Bell Rehearsal for Level 3 and Class sessions for Level 2 Ringers
Treble Bell and Brass Bell Technique Classes
Handbell Care and Maintenance (handbells may be brought in for repair)
Handbells with Other Instruments 
10:35 – 11:50 AM 
 
  Bell Rehearsal for Level 2 Choirs and Class sessions for Level 3 Ringers
11:50 AM – 12:55 PM   Catered Soup/Salad Luncheon by Memory Lane Café
Director’s Roundtable (self-directed) and Bell Choir Solo Practice Sessions

Workshops are held throughout the Church building and the sanctuary. “Orphan” ringers are welcome and other ringers without a choir will be “adopted.” For those who do not ring handbells but wish to listen, $10 payable at the door will gain you entrance to the sanctuary for your listening pleasure. (Note: Bell choirs may need to bring their own bell tables.) Mark your calendars and plan on attending! Bring a friend or two!   


















 

 




Directions:

Two blocks off S. Washington off of Baum Street at Hayden Street. Use the Hayden Street entrance to the Theatre.
