May is National Stroke Awareness Month, the perfect time to learn more about the fifth leading cause of death and the leading cause of disability in the US. This year alone, nearly 800,000 people in this country will suffer a stroke. Up to 80 percent of strokes are preventable - St. Mary’s of Michigan is offering free Stroke Screenings and an educational class throughout the month of May.

Wednesday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to noon at St. Mary’s of Michigan Riverfront, 1015 S. Washington, Saginaw
The screening includes a total cholesterol test, as well as glucose and blood pressure screening. The screening is open to those who have not had their cholesterol tested in at least six months.
