On Saturday September 29, 2018, the Saginaw Choral Society kicks off its 83rd season with a bold and fantastic flourish! SCS will be hosting an Opening Gala reception at 6PM followed by The Music of Living concert at 7:30PM in Saginaw Valley State University’s Malcolm Field Theatre.
The Music of Living is the first concert of the 2018-2019 season for the Choral Society and will feature not only songs by the entire chorus but also; men’s sextet AhTempo!, pianist Catherine McMichael, and many more fine singers.
When asked about this first concert, Saginaw Choral Society’s Artistic Director, Jeremiah Kraniak said “This opening concert will be a celebration of the breadth of talent we have in SCS. We are comfortable singing music from many genres and we have many fine soloists as well as a fantastic pianist. I wanted to showcase them to our patrons; I want the audience to come away feeling proud of what we have in this community. Making connections to our audience and community is a thread that you will see us carry through all season long.”
When pianist Catherine McMichael was asked about this year’s music selection, she said simply, “It’s beautiful!”
The Opening Gala reception will be held from 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm on the Curtiss Hall mezzanine at SVSU and will hold a menu of hor d’oeuvres, desserts and a cash bar. Gala entertainment will include acoustic guitar playing by Andrew Kitzman and dancers from the Islamic Center of Saginaw.
