Duties:REPORTS TO: Great Lakes Bay Early College Coordinator NUMBER OF OPENINGS: One (1) Full-time position. GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION: Under the direction of the Great Lakes Bay Early College Coordinator, this position will provide instruction and career guidance to students enrolled in the Early College program. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Provide ELA instruction aligned with state Michigan Merit Curriculum standards to students enrolled in the Great Lakes Bay Early College (GLBEC). 2. Assist students with the development of their Educational Development Plan. 3. Provide direction and advising to students regarding course and program selection, class scheduling, school adjustment, study habits, and career planning. 4. Provide tools and strategies to prepare students for assessments and college level assignments. 5. Mentor students enrolled in Great Lakes Bay Early College, maintaining accurate and complete records as required. 6. Advise GLBEC students, acting as a liaison between academic advisors and services of the community college/university, and Great Lakes Bay Early College students and parents. 7. Communicate with college instructors, collaborating on transitional course offerings that prepare students for college coursework. 8. Attend/participate in professional learning that aligns with content area, as well as college readiness, career development, and other areas as identified by administration. 9. Develop and foster positive relationships and effective communication with stakeholders, in collaboration with Great Lakes Bay Early College Coordinator.
Experience Required:1. Shall possess valid Michigan Teachers Certification 2. Shall be familiar with multiple forms of technology 3. Must demonstrate exemplary customer service skills, including courteousness, tact and good verbal communication in all facets of the position. 4. Must have knowledge of and demonstrate confidentiality practices and maintain confidentiality of work, work product, etc. at all times. 5. Must have highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal. 6. Demonstrated proficiency, accuracy and timeliness in the handling of detailed work assignments. 7. Must be highly organized; demonstrate initiative and be a self-starter in the completion of tasks, assignments and projects
