Theodore Roethke ranks among the greatest American poets of the 20th Century and was a major influence on his peers and a generation of writers that followed. He was born in 1908 in Saginaw, Michigan and grew up in the house now preserved as The Theodore Roethke Home Museum. The intent of the museum is to give the experience of writing in a nature poet’s house and to avail visiting writers and researchers of the archives and artifacts of the Roethke family.
