Join us for On the Record with guest speaker Detroit News Editorial Page Editor and co-host of Detroit Public Television’s MiWeek Show, Nolan Finley.

Nolan will take a look at the current political environment heading into an election year and provide an overview of current and pending Michigan legislation, politics and public policy that impacts business.

About our speaker:
Nolan Finley is Editorial Page Editor of The Detroit News, a position he's held since May 1, 2000. He directs the expression of the newspaper's editorial position on various national and local issues and writes a column in the Thursday and Sunday newspapers. Finley also co-hosts the “MiWeek” show on Detroit Public Television and often appears on Flashpoint on WDIV.

Prior to his work as Editorial Page Editor, Finley was the newspaper's Deputy Managing Editor, directing the newsroom. He also served as Business Editor, was in various editing positions on the city, state and metro desks, and a reporter covering Detroit City Hall during the Coleman Young administration.

An employee of the newspaper since 1976, Finley started as a copy boy in the newsroom while a student at Wayne State University. He is a graduate of both Schoolcraft College in Livonia and Wayne State, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism. In 2012, Nolan was inducted into the Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame.
