Event Description:

– The Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum highlights the Black Arts
Movement, an important part of the Civil Rights Movement, by hosting an in-person artists’
panel and an online, virtual artist talk. These talks are a way for the public to learn more about
the artwork in the “Harold Neal and Detroit African American Artists: 1945 Through the Black
Arts Movement” exhibition at the Museum as well as contemporary artwork that is influenced
by that movement.
The public will have an opportunity to attend virtually and also in-person at the
Museum for the artists’ panel. The artist talk is listed below:
• Artists’ Panel Discussion with Detroit artists Shirley Woodson and Allie McGhee with
Stephanie James as facilitator, Saturday, March 26, 2022, 12:00-2:00pm, at the
Museum with special reception and booksigning to follow. The talk will also be
livestreamed on the Musuem’s Facebook page.
