The 7th annual Saginaw County Community Action Committee ‘Walk for Warmth’ is set to stroll through downtown Saginaw on February 21, 2015. The event focuses on raising awareness and proceeds toward emergency heating assistance for approved elderly and low-income Saginaw county residents.
The goal for this event is to raise at least $25,000. It is a fun, family event and a wonderful way for the community to help with an important cause affecting Saginaw County residents
Among the sponsors for the event this year are Great Lakes Crossroad LLC, the Garber Management Group, Hemlock Semiconductor, Quality Staffing and Consumers Energy Co., which will be participating in the event.
Registration for the event will take place on February 21 from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. with the walk commencing at 9:00 a.m. The registration fee is donation-only, with a suggested minimum of $10. Pledge sheets may be obtained at the Saginaw County CAC, located at 2824 Perkins Street in Saginaw. Donations may also be made online at www.Saginawcac.org. Big or small, each donation helps!
Participants for this year’s event will start at Great Lakes Crossroads, 234 S. Water Street and will walk to Garber Management, 999 S. Washington Avenue before heading back to the starting point.
Staying warm in the critical winter climate is especially important for children and the elderly, who are more susceptible to weather-related illnesses such as hypothermia. With colder than average temperatures already affecting many residents, heating assistance is absolutely vital this winter. Old and new supporters are welcome—join us in making a difference in Saginaw!
For anyone who is not able to brave the cold and participate in the event, donations can be made online via the Saginaw County Community Action Committee’s website: www.Saginawcac.org.
