On Saturday March 14th and Sunday March 15th Barnes & Noble in Saginaw will be hosting a Book Fair supporting Saginaw Township’s A Place for Grace Child Care. Up to 20% of in store purchases on those two days and 10% of online purchases for the entire week will go to benefit A Place for Grace’s Tuition Scholarship and Special Services Fund.
A Place for Grace Child Care is the areas first ever daycare for special needs children. Their vision: Every Child Deserves a Little Grace. They serve and honor children who are mild to moderately cognitively impaired, emotionally impaired, autistic spectrum disorder, developmentally delayed or speech and language delayed. The Book Fair will generate funds for their non-profit Tuition Scholarship & Special Services Fund through the Saginaw Community Foundation. This fund is used to help families who do not qualify for DHS child care assistance bring their special needs children to the facility and covers the extra costs for in house therapies.
Special events and children book readings are scheduled throughout the two day event! On Saturday, March 14th from 9 to 5, parents will have the opportunity to get a wonderful chair massage from Massage by Michelle, kids can work on a craft while the parents shop, and at 11:00 Domingo with MUSCIO will be giving keyboarding lessons to the kids. At noon Senator Ken Horn will be reading Yertle the Turtle. From 1 to 3 p.m. 4 authors from Bold is Beautiful, including the Founder of A Place for Grace, Jenny Dumont, will be selling and signing books to raise money for the cause. At 3:00 p.m. Jimmy Greene from ABC will be reading Are You My Mother?
On Sunday, March 15th, the day will begin again at 10 a.m. with chair massages, crafts and information from Saginaw’s own Dr. Dan on kids nutrition. Starting at 11:00 a.m. kids will have another opportunity to practice the keyboards with MUSCIO. Mike Radler from DOW Chemical will be reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar at noon. At 2:00 p.m. Henry Reyna – Saginaw Township’s favorite police officer will be reading The Paper Bag Princess, and at 3:00 p.m. Courtney Sharpe, a SVSU Student will be reading Don’t Let the Pigeons Drive the Bus.
March is reading month and Barnes & Noble’s children’s reading area is a great way to spend time and support a community organization.
