THE BRADLEY HOUSE THEATRE WITH YFX PRESENTS STORIES OF REINTERGRATION
Reflections from Family’s Suffering PTSD
On April 11th at 5 PM, YFX Physical Theatre’s newest production Stories of Reintegration will tell the stories of soldiers returning home only to struggle with reintegrating into the lives of their families and communities. The reintegration stories are drawn from classical and contemporary theatre and poetry: from the story of the Greek Ajax to the poetry of Wilfred Owen.
The topic of stories of reintegration is the doctoral work of Kassy Skoretz. PTSD is a topic that has recently come to forefront of American culture with the playing of American Sniper. Stories of Reintegration offers a collection of vignettes that show a variety of responses to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The show points out that PTSD has been a historical phenomenon for as long as there have been wars with its heroes and victims. Families have suffered from the effects of PTSD for as long as humanity has struggled to make since of the aftermath and image of violence.
The stories are performed in various theatrical styles including mime, dance and spoken drama. The performers are Todd Farley, Adriel Ruben, Kassy Skoretz and Dylan Koblin. After the performance there will also be a panel discussion hosted by Rev. Dr. Farley with the performers and a represent from the VA. A $10 dollar donation is suggested to help cover the food and performance costs.
