The Saginaw Promise kicks off its Five Year Anniversary celebration with “The Power of the Promise” Luncheon fundraiser on Tuesday, April 28th at the Saginaw Arts and Sciences Academy from 11: 30 AM-1:30 PM. The Saginaw Promise invites the community to join them as they celebrate, thank, recognize and acknowledge volunteers, corporate sponsors, Foundations and Student scholars. Tickets are $45 per person and can be purchased at saginawfoundation.thankyou4caring.org/promise (credit card purchase only) or to purchase tickets with cash or checks please call 755-0545. Reserved tables of eight are available for $350. Proceeds from this event will help fund scholarships for the class of 2015.
At the Power of the Promise Luncheon, the Saginaw Promise will recognize Charter and Honorary Members: Carl Ruth, Diane Scorsone, Jimmy Greene, Joe Madison, John Humphreys, Karen Lawrence-Webster, Kathryn Spence, Kimberly Houston-Philpot, Mike Manley, Norm Braddock and Odie Pruitt for the roles they played to establish the organization.
Wallace Davis, a Saginaw Public School District Alumnus and entrepreneur, who found success in business, as both an owner and manager in the fields of Aerospace, Automotive, Agriculture and Water Well, Renewable Energy and general manufacturing will serve as keynote speaker. Mr. Wallace holds degrees from Oakland University, Dartmouth University and the University of Michigan. His education started in Saginaw at Potter Elementary, Arthur Eddy and Saginaw High School.

The Saginaw Promise is working to affect Saginaw’s economy and quality of life by promoting and supporting a culture of postsecondary education for all of its graduating students through information, programming and the awarding of “last dollar’ scholarships. Since 2012, $464,000 has been awarded in scholarships to 296 students. Saginaw Promise scholars attend 23 community colleges, technical schools and universities throughout Michigan.
