Event Description:

A three-day artist led workshop to improve your plein air and pastel skills. Kathleen Kalinowski, an award winning and accomplished plein air painter, will lead daily demonstrations and lectures on effective landscape composition.

Topics will include pastel working methods using an underpainting and how to layer color to make the most of your pastel sets. The principles of design will be reviewed including understanding value, color temperature and edges and how they affect the construction of a painting. The small workshop size will allow for individual attention and constructive critiques for each participant. Plein air locations include the museum's gardens and Saginaw's picturesque Ojibway Island.
