Event Description: Historic First Congregational Church of Saginaw, Michigan announces the culminating event of the organ dedication season commencing with the performance of recitalist, Marilyn Keiser on Friday, May 15, 2015 at 7:00 PM.

Marilyn Keiser is recognized as a virtuoso concert organist with international credits that include featured performances at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts; Royal Victoria Hall with the Singapore Symphony; the American Cathedral in Paris, the Southern Cathedrals in Winchester, England, and the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. Keiser is an artist who plays after the greatest music ministry traditions and promises an incomparable concert. The American Organist reviewed Keiser stating that “She represents to the organ world what the late Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis did for America: the epitome of taste, dignity, and elegance,” further stating that her concerts are “marked by playing of the highest order.” The concert at First Congregational Church is expected to be one of the State’s premiere musical events, a must-see for any organ music enthusiasts and for those who enjoy great music played by someone who according to the News and Observer, “lives and loves the music.” The Houston Chronicle reported that her concert “thrills in Technique, [and] power.”

Master Concert Organist Keiser will be playing on First Congregational Church’s Skinner Pipe organ, as the culminating concert for one of the Midwest’s largest organ revitalization projects which cost over $500,000. The renovator of the Skinner Opus 751 solidifies the congregation’s cultural commitment to the Cathedral District, Saginaw, and the Great Lakes Bay Region. Scott Smith Pipe Organs of Lansing, Michigan supervised the project, their Opus 3 (4 manuals, 48 ranks), that included a dedicated Organ Restoration Committee made up of First Congregational Church members and well-respected members of the local music community, along with artisans, craftsmen, and subcontractors from throughout the country. (Suggested $20 donation at the door.)
