Familiar Faces by Marcia Henne will be on display through December 18, 2015. This exhibition features a series of portraits of the wonderful characters the artist meets in her travels and in her own hometown. Familiar
Faces is on display as part of Art @ the Andersen at the Andersen Enrichment Center,
120 Ezra Rust, across from Ojibway Island in Saginaw. Exhibit hours are 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
“My work centers around human emotion and connection (or lack thereof). Moments in time are captured to reflect the internal by showing the external. Most of these portraits are people I have a close relationship with, a few local icons and some inspired by my imagination,” says Henne. “They all are isolated, like we all are at times. I want the viewer to find themselves inside the portrait, as the subject, identifying what that person may be feeling at that moment. This to me, reflects how we interact with others and how fragile humankind can be.”
Marcia Henne was born and raised in Saginaw. She attended Arthur Hill High school where she was awarded Art Student of the Year. She then went on to study Fine Arts at Delta, the College for Creative Studies and finally Eastern Michigan University where she received her Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and subsequently her Master's degree in Fine Arts.
Marcia currently resides in Saginaw where she teaches for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Saginaw Valley State University and also curates local art exhibits for the Red Eye Cafe.
