Event Description:

The Saginaw Polar Plunge takes place on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Haithco Park and G’s Pizza (3823 Bay Road).

Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. at G’s Pizza. The parade of costumes begins at 11:45 a.m. Plungers will then be bussed to Haithco Park where the plunge will begin at 12:30 p.m. The awards and After Splash Bash will begin immediately following the plunge at G’s Pizza.

The Polar Plunge series is known for its zany costumes and courageous participants. After raising funds, these participants dress up in costume and prepare to plunge, ready to jump in and freeze their fur for a good cause. Money raised goes to providing free sports training, competition and health screenings for nearly 21,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities in Michigan.

The annual Michigan Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) Polar Plunge is the largest fundraiser for Special Olympics Michigan (SOMI), raising more than $1 million dollars each year. The Saginaw Polar Plunge has raised nearly $260,000 over the past thirteen years, including $32,738 in 2015.

Online registration for the 2016 Saginaw Polar Plunge is open now at http://www.firstgiving.com/polarplunge/Saginaw16.
28 Polar Plunges are scheduled to take place across Michigan this winter. A complete list of plunges can be found at www.PlungeMI.com.
