Would your family like to go ice fishing but, don’t know where to start? Saginaw County Parks and Recreation has your answer – staff and volunteers are providing an ice fishing open house to help teach the basics of ice fishing, from ice safety to techniques to hook the big one.
The event will take place on Saturday February 13th, 2016 at William H. Haithco Recreation Area in Saginaw Township from 9:00 am-12:00 pm. The event coincides with the Michigan DNR Free Fishing Weekend so licenses are not required to come learn the sport of ice fishing. Registration is free and open to the public. This is a catch and release event.
Saginaw County Parks will have door prize drawings and has engaged local partners to provide educational demonstrations. There will be coffee, hot cocoa and donuts (while supplies last) in a warming area just off the ice. Cabela’s will be showcasing some of their products along with demonstrations on the ice.
