Event Description:

May is National Stroke Awareness Month. In order to help the community understand the risk factors and symptoms of stroke, the fourth leading cause of death and serious long-term disability in Michigan, St. Mary’s of Michigan is offering free Stroke Screenings and educational classes throughout the month of May.

The stroke team of St. Mary’s has partnered with Michigan CardioVascular Institute and Field Neurosciences Institute to provide the following stroke screening and important education:

FREE Stroke Screening
Wednesday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Mary’s of Michigan Riverfront, 1015 S. Washington, Saginaw

The Stroke Screening includes a total cholesterol test, glucose and blood pressure screening. Open to those who haven’t had their cholesterol tested in at least six months.

Appointments are required as space is limited. Please call 1-844-907-8000 to register.

Free Lunch & Learn Programs
Tuesday, May 10: Stroke Diagnosis and Treatment presented by Dr. Faith Abbott & Eric Maher, Stroke Program Coordinator.

Tuesday, May 24: Therapy After Stroke presented by Arshal Thomas, PT Clinical Specialist & Lisa Schrems, OT Clinical Specialist.

Both Lunch & Learn Programs take place from noon to 1 pm at the Saginaw YMCA (1915 Fordney). A free healthy box lunch is included. Reservation required, call 1-844-907-8000.
