Saginaw County Parks Opens Saginaw Rivers Headwaters Rec Area

Depending on what generation you're from, this land is either a reminder of the factory that once stood or a peaceful place to enjoy nature.

Congratulations to Saginaw County Parks, a Chamber Member, which recently unveiled the Saginaw River Headwaters Rec Area at 77 W. Center Street in the City of Saginaw. What a beautiful spot to be immersed in nature, without leaving the city.

Saginaw County Parks reports additional development is planned later this year and in 2024. After that, the official grand opening will take place. The rec area showcases 334 beautiful acres along the Saginaw River. Visitors to the site will find a completed parking area and over three miles of developed trails (2.5 miles of aggregate surface and .5 mile paved). Future development covers continued habitat restoration, observational overlooks, additional trails, a fishing platform on the Saginaw River, and a historic timeline of the property curated by the Historical Society of Saginaw County.

Saginaw Rivers Headwaters Rec Area is a collaboration between the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Saginaw County; the first of its kind in Michigan. The site is intended for passive recreation, including hiking, biking, wildlife observation, and fishing on the Saginaw River.
