The Saginaw Community Engagement and Inclusion Council (CEIC) is thrilled to host the 2025 Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Justice (DEIBJ) Symposium, scheduled for Wed., Jan. 29, 2025, from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. at Saginaw Valley State University, Curtiss Hall. The theme of this transformative event is “Community Empowerment: A Call to Action.”

This DEIBJ Symposium will bring together a broad spectrum of voices to ignite change and inspire action within the community. Designed as a platform for collaboration and innovation, the event will spotlight strategies and best practices to foster understanding and drive initiatives that advance inclusion, equity, and a sense of belonging.

Plenary speakers include Paulette Granberry Russell, President of the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education, and Dr. Michael Gavin, President of Delta College. Additionally, the event will feature various speakers, from local to national experts, including Jeff Williams, director of consulting services at Grand Valley State University’s Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy, and Dr. Anthony Palatta, health professions education consultant at PalattaSolutions.

The 2025 Symposium is one of several initiatives outlined in the CEIC’s recently unveiled roadmap to advance diversity, inclusion, and empowerment across Saginaw County. By convening leaders, organizations, and community members, this event will provide actionable tools and insights to support lasting change.
