Mozart's Requiem & Beethoven's Choral Fantasy our spectacular season finale!
Join us on Saturday, April 26, at 3:00 PM in the Temple Theatre, as we bring to life Mozart’s Requiem and Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, featuring the Choral Society, with an orchestra of Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra musicians, and a spectacular lineup of soloists.
Titans of Music showcases the Saginaw Choral Society at its finest with our special invited guest choir from Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy, along with soloists Erin Whitfield, soprano, Amanda Perkins, soprano, Stephanie Bale, alto, Thomas Studebaker, tenor, Kevin Simons, tenor, and Benton DeGroot, bass.
Beethoven himself was the pianist at the premier of his Choral Fantasy in 1808, in a marathon program lasting well over three hours. We proudly feature our own celebrated pianist, Catherine McMichael, performing on the 9-ft. Steinway grand piano brought to the Temple stage for this very special occasion.
Mozart’s Requiem has long been applauded as one of the finest choral works of all time. Featured in the 1984 film Amadeus, its composition history has been steeped in mystery and speculation, remaining an intrinsically beautiful work of art performed all over the world.
We offer a rare opportunity to experience the power and passion of these two legendary composers at the same time in the beautiful setting of the Temple Theatre. Looking ahead to our 90th anniversary season coming up, Titans of Music celebrates our longstanding history of filling the region with music that will move and inspire you. Singing is truly in our DNA.
