Renee Johnston Joins Isabella Bank East Region Board

Jerome Schwind, President of Isabella Bank, announced the appointment of Renee Johnston to the East Region Advisory Board.

“The East Region board is a diverse group of individuals who know Midland, Saginaw, Freeland, and the surrounding areas. It includes experts with proven leadership that extends into community action. Renee’s longtime community involvement and business connections across the region position her to be a strong asset to the advisory board and a tremendous voice for area residents,” stated Schwind.

Renee earned her Bachelor’s degree in History and Pre-Law from Alma College and her Juris Doctorate from Valparaiso University School of Law. After graduating from law school, she began a nearly decade long career with Delphi Corporation in Saginaw and Troy. During her tenure with Delphi, Renee held positions in Lean Manufacturing, Manufacturing Management, and Human Resource Administration.

Since 2004, Renee has been President and CEO of the Saginaw Community Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to enrich the quality of life for the individuals of Saginaw County. The foundation exercises philanthropic leadership and acts as a catalyst in identifying community needs and opportunities.

Renee serves as a sustaining member of the Junior League of Saginaw Valley and on the Board of Directors for the Council of Michigan Foundations and Covenant Hospital. She has also played a role in the development of the Heroes for Kids Fundraiser, Saginaw County’s Promise, Youth First Program, and Art and About. Renee has received multiple awards throughout her career, including a Ruby Award in 2005, Outstanding Fundraising Executive of the Year by the Association of Fundraising Professionals in 2008, and the Richard Calley Distinguished Service Award in 2018. In 2014, Renee was appointed by Governor Rick Snyder to the Michigan Board of Medicine as a Public Member, and was named one of the NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet Honorees.
In her spare time, Renee enjoys volunteering, coordinating events, sports, running, dancing, traveling, shopping and spending time with her friends and family. Renee resides in her hometown, Saginaw, with her husband Mark. They have two children, Bella and Nicholas.

The East Region Advisory Board provides guidance on Isabella Bank initiatives in the region, reports on local business opportunities and advocates for the bank within communities. In addition to Renee, the Advisory Board includes Isabella Bank East Region President, Michael Colby; Mary Draves, Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer at Dow Inc.; Smallwood Holoman, former Public Affairs Director at Dow and CFO at Holoman Associates; Clarence Rivette, President of the Wirt-Rivette Group in Saginaw; Vicki Rupp, former Corporate Director of Business Services at Dow, Director of Vicki Rupp Consulting, and Board Member of Isabella Bank and Isabella Bank Corporation Boards; and Isabella Bank President, Jerome Schwind.
