Great Lakes Bay Hispanic Leadership Institute

The Great Lakes Bay Hispanic Leadership Institute program was developed by Monica B. Reyes, Director at SVSU and Larry Rodarte, Owner/Editor of Mi Gente Magazine with assistance and support from Jimmy Green, Chamber Board Member. Key individuals like Mamie Thorns of SVSU, Kim Houston-Philpot of Dow Corning Corporation, Jim Jaime of the Great Lakes Bay Hispanic Business Association, Manual Gonzalez of Prudential, Jeff Martin of Dow Chemical and many more were instrumental in the success of the program’s first year.

Designed to address a lack of Hispanic representation and involvement on community boards in organizations, the program is intended to identify potential leaders that would not normally be on the radar screen of traditional leadership programs. The Great Lakes Bay Hispanic Leadership Institute provides individuals with the opportunity to develop the skills and relationships necessary to become effective leaders. The GREAT LAKES BAY HISPANIC LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE seeks to advance ethical, diverse and collaborative leadership for the future of our community.
