Great Lakes Bay Regional Leadership Institute

Great Lakes Bay Regional Leadership Institute (formerly known as VISION TRICOUNTY: A Regional Leadership Institute or VTC) aims to acquaint identified leaders in the Great Lakes Bay Region with a regional perspective. It was conceived in a collaborative effort by the Midland Area, Saginaw County, and Bay Area Chambers of Commerce. The three organizations collectively form the Great Lakes Bay Regional Alliance, the umbrella organization that oversees the regional Leadership Institute, as well as several other regional initiatives.

Great Lakes Bay Regional Leadership Institute (or GLBRLI) has been made possible by the Great Lakes Bay Regional Alliance Steering Committee. Serving on the Steering Committee are the Chamber presidents, education representatives from the area's colleges and universities, and graduates of the 2007, 2008 and 2009 Institutes.

As more and more initiatives are taking a regional approach, the need for leaders with a regional mindset continues to grow. An official program of the Great Lakes Bay Regional Alliance, the Great Lakes Bay Regional Leadership Institute has graduated 172 Regional Ambassadors.

The mission of the Institute is to further develop and engage leaders who are knowledgeable and dedicated to the Great Lakes Bay Region and prepared to lead regional collaborative efforts. Already, the evidence of our success can be seen. For instance, it was one of the early classes that suggested an aggressive communications strategy which led to the branding of the area as the Great Lakes Bay Region. Regional Ambassadors' efforts and support in the areas of economic development, advocacy, and quality of life have also led to some projects that are currently on a successful track. These and other initiatives currently moving the Great Lakes Bay Region forward could not happen without a support base of Regional Ambassadors that is being assembled through the Institute. Join us now and be part of our regional success story.
